Doppelmayr Group Brings RopeCon® to India

The Doppelmayr Group has been awarded a contract for the construction of a RopeCon® system at the Aditya Alumina Refinery in Kansariguda, Odisha, India. The aerial conveying system, the first of its kind in the country, will transport bauxite over a distance of approximately 2,300 meters while navigating challenging agricultural terrain with only four support towers. The installation is expected to begin operations in the third quarter of 2027.

Designed for efficiency and sustainability, the RopeCon® system will handle up to 1,500 tonnes per hour and can later transport tailings in the opposite direction. Its elevated design minimizes the footprint on the ground while maintaining safe clearance above the landscape. In operation, the system is capable of regenerating up to 907 kWh, reflecting efforts to integrate environmentally responsible technologies.
