Rolls-Royce is supplying 30 mtu 12V 4000 C03 engines to U&M Mineração e Construção S/A, a leading earthworks contractor in Brazil. The engines will be used to repower mining trucks and excavators, with U&M stating that the upgrade aims to improve performance, efficiency, and reliability. This follows a previous order of 20 mtu engines placed in 2019.
U&M has worked with mtu engines for nearly two decades, including in Komatsu hauler trucks and Hitachi EX5500-6 mining shovels. The company says its decision to continue modernizing its fleet with Rolls-Royce was influenced by the reliability, durability, and serviceability of mtu engines. The mtu team collaborated with U&M to optimize engine calibrations, ensuring compatibility across different applications.
“Given the fact that U&M is operating in the remotest regions of Brazil, it has been a huge challenge for us to service the growing fleet of trucks and excavators with immediate services and parts,” said Carlos Levy, Managing Director of MTU do Brasil. “The confidence U&M has today in our products and services is a result of the hard work we did with strong support from our colleagues at MTU America and MTU Peru.”
