Veolia Water Technologies will expand the wastewater treatment plant at Brewery Omer Vander Ghinste in Belgium to support its operations while reducing environmental impact. The project includes advanced treatment technologies designed to improve water reuse and biogas production, aligning with Veolia’s GreenUp strategic plan.
The upgraded system will enable 70% of the brewery’s water to be recycled for cooling, bottle washing, and equipment cleaning, reducing freshwater consumption. High-quality biogas produced from wastewater will be used for heating, contributing to a sustainable energy cycle that prevents the emission of 548 tons of CO2 annually.
"We are very proud to collaborate with the historic Omer Vander Ghinste brewery on this project that perfectly illustrates how our advanced technologies can improve both the sustainability and efficiency of an industrial site. By allowing 70% of water reuse and creating a renewable energy cycle, we demonstrate that ecological innovation can go hand in hand with operational efficiency, in connection with our GreenUp strategic plan." said Anne Le Guennec, Senior Executive VP for Worldwide Water Technologies at Veolia.
