EnviroChemie has been commissioned by the Geotechmin Group to build a new mine water treatment plant for the Ellatzite copper mine in Bulgaria. The facility will use a combination of EnviModul modules, including Envochem® chemical and heavy metal precipitation processes, to treat wastewater from multiple sources at the site. Initial capacity is set at 360 m³/h, with a full design capacity of 720 m³/h and flexibility to operate under varying hydraulic loads.
The plant will treat mine water using mechanical and chemical processes, with treated effluent either discharged to an existing treatment facility or directly into a nearby river, depending on turbidity measurements. Sludge from the process will be routed to a dedicated collection pit. This is the third wastewater treatment plant at the site and the second using EnviroChemie technology.
“We are starting the project to achieve higher environmental standards. As a socially responsible company, Ellatzite-Med has already invested in clean environmental projects and will continue to do so. We are focusing on water management.” said Ellatzite Mining Complex Director Eng. Vasil Shiskov.
