Prinoth Unveils Extreme Terrain Carrier

Prinoth has announced that its Panther XL tracked vehicle has been selected by the Norwegian Polar Institute for deployment at the Troll Research Station in Antarctica. The company will supply ten units along with spare parts and service support in a deal worth 175 million NOK (approximately 17 million USD). Manufactured in Granby, Québec, the Panther XL is purpose-built to handle the challenges of polar terrain, combining technical expertise from across Prinoth’s snow grooming and crawler carrier divisions.

According to Prinoth, the Panther XL features a range of enhancements drawn from both product lines, including advanced cab suspension, intuitive operator interfaces, and a rubber track undercarriage designed for durability in remote, rugged environments. The model also incorporates drive-assist technologies and patented systems developed specifically for cold-weather, long-distance operation. The company says this latest deployment underscores its focus on engineering solutions for extreme conditions.

"Antarctica demands the very best technology. By bringing together the strengths of our Snow Grooming and Crawler Carrier teams, and adding targeted innovations, we've built a vehicle that's made to perform well in the toughest conditions and underlines our groupwide leading engineering capabilities and our focus on customer needs." said Klaus Tonhäuser, President of Prinoth.
