Robit has launched the H Marathon Series, a high-performance extension of its H Series hammers, designed to improve wear life and reduce operating costs in Down the Hole drilling. The company says the upgraded design uses advanced materials and coating technologies to strengthen wear-prone components, extending service life before replacement is required.
Testing in a range of conditions reportedly showed wear life gains of 15% to 67% over standard H Series hammers and competing models. In South Africa, a trial at the Phalaborwa phosphate mine saw the H6 Marathon complete its full service life with a single chuck, where standard models would typically need two. Additional field trials in Finland indicated more even wear distribution, reduced downtime, and greater durability in hard rock drilling.
The H Marathon Series will be released in various configurations during 2025. Robit adds that its longer lifespan and proven field results align with the company’s focus on innovation and practical durability in challenging drilling environments.
