Mincon Unveils Hybrid Impact Technology™ with Epiroc

Mincon has introduced Hybrid Impact Technology™ (HIT), a hydraulic DTH solution designed to transform large-diameter blasthole drilling in open-pit mining. The technology replaces compressed air with hydraulic energy, delivering power more directly to the drill bit. This reduces energy loss, increases penetration rates and lowers fuel consumption, resulting in reduced total drilling costs. HIT has been developed through years of research and field testing in diverse mining environments, including sites in Australia and Arizona.

The technology is engineered for single-pass production drilling and integrates with modern rotary platforms. It offers higher drilling productivity while reducing fuel use and CO₂ emissions, supporting decarbonisation goals. Under a three-year agreement, Mincon will collaborate with Epiroc to integrate HIT into Epiroc’s Pit Viper rotary blasthole drill rigs, aiming to bring this technology into production at mines worldwide.

“HIT has been designed to deliver a step change in drilling performance for the mining industry. The long-term future demand for mined minerals, along with global decarbonization goals, will require systems that offer much higher productivity while lowering carbon emissions. We’re incredibly proud to bring this technology, in collaboration with Epiroc, to the mining market as a showcase of our innovation and collective capabilities,” said Joe Purcell, CEO, Mincon Group.
