Epiroc has secured a contract worth 125 million SEK to supply electrical infrastructure for Stage 2 of Sydney’s Western Harbour Tunnel project. Awarded by ACCIONA, the contract includes high-voltage power systems, low-voltage cabling, fibre optic networks, substations, and switchboards. The work will be delivered in phases over several years, with Epiroc also providing skilled personnel for a key section of the tunnelling project.
JTMEC, Powered by Epiroc, will oversee the project’s electrical scope. Acquired by Epiroc in 2022, JTMEC specializes in electrical and electrification solutions for mining and tunnelling. The company states that its involvement reinforces its role in supporting major infrastructure projects in Australia.
“Western Harbour Tunnel is a major transport infrastructure project from Transport for NSW that will make it easier, faster and safer to get around Sydney. Our engagement on Stage 2 of the project further solidifies Epiroc’s position as a premier electrical contracting partner in Australia’s tunnelling and construction sectors,” said Scott Bell, General Manager, JTMEC Powered by Epiroc.
