Mammoet supported Codelco in relocating key crusher components between sites in Chile using specialized heavy lifting and transport equipment. Six major components were moved as whole units, reducing disassembly and shortening the project timeline.
Engineers developed a transport plan using Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs), skidding systems, and jacking equipment. The heaviest elements, the 1,300t crusher and 1,100t silo, were lifted and transported with customized support beams and skid tracks, ensuring structural integrity and proper positioning at the new site.
"We worked with Codelco for a year and a half on planning. We created route plans and supported them in addressing considerations like road slope, turn ratios, and transport width to optimize efficiency." said Mammoet Sales Manager Vanessa Labana.
