Mammoet to Implement HVO Fuel in Key Regions

Mammoet plans to begin using Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel across its operations in the Netherlands, UK, and Canada from the second quarter of 2025. The company says this move supports its broader carbon reduction program and responds to increased customer demand for lower-emission heavy lifting and transport services.

According to Mammoet, HVO100 – made from 100% renewable raw materials – can reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90% compared to diesel and is compatible with existing diesel engines. Mammoet is also investing in electric equipment, battery-powered cranes, and other technologies as part of its shift toward more sustainable site operations.

“This is a significant step we are taking to reduce our carbon footprint. By being the first large heavy lifting and transport company to commit to this new fuel at scale, we will drive down our emissions and showcase that we are also the market leader on this front.” said Pascal Eeken, Improvement and Innovation Manager at Mammoet Europe.
