Booyco Electronics Develops Smarter Mine Safety Tools

Booyco Electronics is expanding its suite of safety technologies with Proximity Detection Systems (PDS) and Collision Avoidance Systems (CAS) designed to meet the challenges of both surface and underground mining. Drawing on nearly two decades of experience in mine safety, the South African company is focused on adaptable, environment-specific solutions that enhance operator awareness and help operations align with regulatory demands.

The company’s systems integrate RFID, GPS and other technologies into a unified platform that issues graded alerts based on severity—addressing longstanding issues such as false alarms and system fatigue. With compatibility across mixed fleets and support from the BEAMS asset management platform, Booyco’s offerings aim to give mines access to real-time safety data, enabling more informed decision-making without impacting productivity.

“In both underground and surface mines, access to actionable data is becoming essential. BEAMS transforms data into a strategic tool helping mines optimise safety without compromising throughput.” said CEO Anton Lourens.
