2024 Xylem Challenge: Top Water Solutions by Students

Xylem has named the winners of its 2024 Global Student Innovation Challenge. “Team AGWE – God of Water: Be Empowered. Take Action.” from the Philippines and “The Blue: Immersive Water Conservation Learning Experience” from Algeria won the grand prizes in the high school and university divisions, respectively. The challenge drew over 4,400 students from 150 countries, who tackled critical issues such as ocean plastic waste, sustainability, and greenhouse gas reduction.

The winning teams were selected from nearly 260 projects evaluated by judges from Xylem and EarthEcho International. Each team will share a $20,000 prize and gain access to the Xylem Ignite Innovation Incubator, where they will receive mentorship and funding to further develop their solutions. This initiative is part of Xylem Ignite, which aims to empower the next generation of water sector innovators.

“As global water challenges escalate, it’s more important than ever to provide a platform for the next generation of innovators,” said Austin Alexander, Vice President of Sustainability and Social Impact at Xylem. We’re thrilled with the water conservation solutions that this year’s challenge winners have proposed. The work of these and other young innovators will have a major impact on the water sector for years to come.” said Austin Alexander, Vice President of Sustainability and Social Impact at Xylem.
