Volvo Construction Equipment has extended its Iron Women program to India, aiming to help address the country’s skills shortage in the construction equipment sector while providing opportunities for women from underprivileged backgrounds. The initiative offers training for roles such as operators and technicians and is delivered in collaboration with Volvo CE India, dealer partner Pollutech Engineering, and customer Kalinga Commercial Corporation Limited (KCCL).
The program is intended to reduce gender disparity in technical roles and foster a more diverse, skilled workforce. Participants receive access to equipment, jobsite placements, and practical training across three streams: operator, workshop technician, and factory floor technician. The initiative builds on the earlier launch of Iron Women in Ukraine.
“The Iron Women Program is a powerful step towards shaping an inclusive future in our industry. It is not just about training women – it is about unlocking potential, creating opportunities, and reshaping perceptions. This initiative reflects our commitment to building a workforce that is diverse, skilled, and future-ready.” said Tomas Kuta, Head of Sales Region Asia at Volvo CE.
