LKAB is finalising preparations for the relocation of Kiruna Church, set to take place on 19–20 August 2025. The move, part of the mining company’s long-term urban transformation programme, will see Sweden’s most beautiful building relocated to a new site.
The relocation is expected to attract national and international attention, with a three-day public programme planned around the event. LKAB has announced that KAJ, Sweden’s 2025 Eurovision entry, will perform on 19 August as part of the celebrations. All activities are free of charge and open to the public, with more details to follow.
“For generations, the church has been an important gathering place with a special place in many people’s hearts. We want the relocation to become a cherished memory and create new opportunities to come together,” said Stefan Holmblad Johansson, project manager for the church relocation at LKAB.
