Hexagon has released version 7.5 of its Operator Alertness System (OAS), which integrates for the first time with the company’s Collision Avoidance System (CAS 10). According to Hexagon, the integration allows for automatic video capture of predicted collision events, offering safety teams near real-time visibility into vehicle interactions and operator behavior. This system is designed to enhance both incident analysis and proactive safety management across mining fleets.
The technology was validated during a 10,000-hour field trial at Whitehaven Coal’s operations in Australia. Hexagon reports the system operated with minimal network load due to edge-based video processing and delivered event videos within seconds of detection. The company highlights the tool’s potential to support data-driven safety improvements while reducing response times during critical events.
“OAS 7.5 reaffirms Hexagon’s commitment to delivering industry-leading safety solutions that support customers in achieving their zero-harm goals,” said Dave Goddard, Executive Vice President, Hexagon's Mining division.
