Weir has launched an updated version of its WARMAN® SHW heavy-duty submersible slurry pump, which is designed for reliable use in demanding slurry environments. The SHW-XTR incorporates changes intended to improve stability, extend motor life, and offer protection from site debris and hazards. Among the updates are a larger shaft, heavy-duty bearings, and a strainer that has been raised and shielded to prevent damage during operation.
Environmental considerations have also been factored into the redesign. The SHW-XTR includes a glycol-based cooling system to reduce water use, a streamlined design to minimize waste, and the use of biodegradable oil in the seal system. According to Weir, these measures align with wider efforts to lower the environmental impact of mining equipment.
“We’re fortunate to be redesigning this pump from a position of strength. The legacy WARMAN® SHW pump has been a mainstay in demanding applications in mining operations all over the word. Its hydraulics are trusted throughout the industry, which is why we’ve preserved these design elements and focused on making improvements elsewhere.” said Ian Ross, Global Product Manager for Dewatering Solutions at Weir.
