Multotec Opens R100 Million Polyurethane Screening Media Factory

Multotec has consolidated its South African injection moulded polyurethane screening media operations into a new R100 million facility designed to enhance efficiency and expand production capacity. Located on a 7,068m² property near the company’s Forge Road main campus in Spartan, Kempton Park, the factory includes a tool room, production floor, offices and warehouse. The design aims to streamline material flow, improve lead times and allow for future digitisation of workflows.

The facility, which serves mining operations across Southern and West Africa as well as international markets, features two additional injection moulding machines, increasing production capacity by 25%. It also incorporates specialised equipment for tooling and quality control, supporting Multotec’s make-to-order production model. This expansion is expected to benefit both the company and the local economy by creating employment opportunities and driving demand for inputs.

“The restrictions on available space in our previous factory led to a layout that did not support an efficient workflow. This new facility allows us to create sufficient baseload capacity, set ourselves up more efficiently, and extend our production capacity to better meet customer demands.” said Rhodes Nelson, Senior Vice President – Product Management at Multotec.
