Multotec has opened a consolidated research and development and test work facility in Spartan, near Johannesburg, to enhance its support for the global mineral processing industry. The facility offers extensive test work services for customers, non-customers, and tertiary institutions, aimed at improving equipment performance and process efficiencies. It features a showroom displaying plant-scale equipment, allowing visitors to observe its operation firsthand.
The company says that the facility supports the evaluation and optimization of screening media, spirals, hydrocyclones, tailings, effluent streams, sedimentation, and filtration processes. Testing on production-size equipment enables throughput verification, process refinement, and improved recovery assessments. The showroom expansion is designed to provide an immersive customer experience, reinforcing Multotec’s commitment to innovation and industry collaboration.
“The facility is there to serve the industry. It is an opportunity to help customers optimise their processes, ensure efficient operations, and work on better recoveries. It’s about innovation and listening to the needs of clients,” said Faan Bornman, Technology Manager – Process Equipment at Multotec.
