MacLean Engineering has introduced its ML5 Multi-Lift to the Australian market, offering an elevated work platform (EWP) with a battery-electric (BEV) option for underground mining. The company says that the ML5 is designed for service installations at heights of up to 6.5 meters and features an interchangeable work basket with full machine controls. It can also function as a forklift or materials handler with a jib crane attachment. The BEV version supports emission reduction efforts while potentially lowering ventilation costs in underground operations.
The company highlights the ML5’s focus on safety, citing features such as ground-level servicing, swing-out wings for maintenance access, and a design that eliminates the need for an operator to remain in the cab. MacLean says its BEV lineup, including the ML5, aligns with industry demand for zero-emission solutions in underground mining. Over 100 MacLean BEVs have been deployed globally, accumulating more than 500,000 operating hours.
“The ML5 is part of our growing 5 Series range of mining vehicles, all of which are available with battery-electric drivetrains. Like all MacLean equipment, it is built for underground use to improve safety, reduce costs, and support a more sustainable mining future.” said Peter Black, Technical Sales Manager in Perth.
