MacLean Engineering has acquired a 95,000 sq ft facility in North Bay, Ontario, to expand its production of underground and surface mining equipment. The site provides additional manufacturing, engineering, and customer support capacity and complements MacLean’s existing plants in Collingwood, Owen Sound, Barrie, and Queretaro, Mexico. Its location offers direct road access to mining operations across northern Ontario and Quebec, as well as rail connections for broader distribution, enabling faster service and improved supply chain support for mining customers.
The new facility also supports workforce growth, with recruitment planned for skilled roles including welders, machinists, engineers, and operators, as well as corporate and administrative positions. This expansion is intended to meet rising demand for MacLean’s products, while providing flexible space for future engineering or production developments tailored to the mining sector.
“Opening a facility in North Bay is further cementing our message to the mining industry: we are here to stay, and we are expanding to better service your needs. We have grown significantly over the last few years with new products, new features and new markets, and expanding in our back yard just made sense. I am excited to plant roots in North Bay, getting closer to the customers up North and to expand our capacity.” said Kevin MacLean, owner and CEO.
