ABB has become a member of Canada’s Mining Innovation Commercialization Accelerator (MICA) Network, a national initiative focused on advancing the development and commercialization of new technologies in the mining sector. Through the partnership, ABB will explore opportunities with its Canadian customers to support modernization in mining operations, with a particular focus on increasing productivity and improving environmental performance.
MICA, which is managed by the Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation, has supported over 250 projects with a combined investment of more than $230 million from government and industry sources. As a member, ABB will be able to participate in pilot projects and joint proposals aimed at driving technological progress in areas such as automation, electrification and energy efficiency.
“At ABB, we strive to pave the way for mining companies to operate, safer, leaner and cleaner. We believe our membership with the MICA Network can help break down barriers for our customers locally to explore, evaluate, innovate and ultimately achieve a better way forward for the industry.” said Sachin Jari, General Manager, Mining North America at ABB Process Industries.
