Vinton Steel has awarded a contract to Tenova Inc. for the supply of a walking hearth reheating furnace that will be integrated into its operations in El Paso, Texas. The equipment is designed for processing high-carbon steel billets, a product line experiencing strong demand from sectors such as mining. The project builds on existing cooperation between the two companies and forms part of a wider expansion program by Vinton Steel’s parent group, Kyoei Steel, in North America.
The furnace will operate in conjunction with the planned Green CityMill™ Flex facility, a platform expected to raise Vinton Steel’s rebar production capacity significantly while applying technologies focused on efficiency and lower environmental impact. According to the companies, the addition of the new reheating system is intended to both broaden the product portfolio and enhance production sustainability.
“We are honored that Vinton Steel continues to place its trust in Tenova’s technologies. This new reheating furnace will be the most advanced of its kind, equipped with sophisticated control systems and our proprietary low-NOx burners. It will enable Vinton Steel to broaden its grinding media product range while meeting the most stringent environmental regulations.” said Francesco Memoli, President and CEO of Tenova Inc.
