Tenova Supplies Emissions-Cutting Furnace to Wieland

Tenova, a developer of technologies for the metals industry, has signed a contract with Wieland Rolled Products North America to supply a Reheating Walking Hearth Furnace with an integrated Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) DeNOx fume treatment system. The equipment is designed to support Wieland’s East Alton, Illinois site upgrade and is expected to improve efficiency and reduce NOx emissions by up to 90%.

The natural gas-fired furnace, developed by Tenova Italimpianti, features TR Flat Flame Roof burners and a post-combustion system, with a processing capacity of up to 110 metric tons per hour. According to Tenova, the solution has already proven effective in other industrial applications and is intended to help meet the environmental requirements of copper alloy production.

“This project is particularly meaningful for us because it integrates advanced combustion and fume treatment technologies to meet both performance and environmental targets. It’s a clear example of how we tailor heat treatment solutions to the unique requirements of non-ferrous production – a sector that is critical for the energy transition and the electrification of mobility. We are especially grateful for the opportunity to work with Wieland, a long-standing and valued client of Tenova”, said Francesco Memoli, Tenova Inc. President & CEO.
