RCT Automates Wharf Crane Operations for Bulk Logistics

RCT has automated a key process for a leading West Australian bulk logistics provider, integrating its automation technology into a wharf crane operation. The system automates the loading of materials into a ship using a rotating container tipper, aiming to improve efficiency and safety. The deployment includes a suite of sensors providing real-time feedback, as well as a self-cleaning camera system for enhanced operator visibility.

According to RCT, the automation reduces the need for multiple operators, streamlines the loading sequence, and enhances reporting transparency. The company says that additional feedback sensors were incorporated while maintaining existing equipment configurations. The project, delivered by RCT Custom, marks the company’s first automation of a fixed plant process, requiring the development of a tailored automation sequence.
