Liebherr Crawler Dozers Deployed with Remote Control Technology

Two Liebherr Generation 8 PR 726 Crawler Dozers equipped with the LiReCon remote control system are now in use by the Austrian Armed Forces for munitions clearance and disaster recovery. According to Liebherr, the equipment is designed to enhance safety by enabling remote operations in hazardous areas, including sites with unexploded munitions. The dozers were delivered under contract from the Federal Ministry of Defence and are operating at the Allentsteig military training ground in Lower Austria.

Liebherr states that the LiReCon system allows for remote operation, minimizing operator exposure to risks while enabling continuous operations through rapid driver changeovers. The company also reports that comprehensive training was provided to the Austrian Armed Forces to support the integration of the technology into their operations.

These teleoperable machines are intended to support safe and efficient operations in challenging environments and are part of Liebherr’s ongoing efforts to develop technology that addresses safety concerns in specialized applications.
