Metso has entered into a training agreement with Saudi Mining Polytechnic (SMP) to support the development of future mining professionals in the Middle East. Under the agreement, young Saudi graduates will receive training at SMP as part of an Associate Diploma program, followed by three months of on-the-job training at a customer site. The initiative is aimed at addressing the mining labor shortage and strengthening local workforce capabilities.
SMP, a semi-governmental institution, offers accredited programs recognized by the Ministry of Education and the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC). Metso states that training has become an essential part of its life cycle service agreements in the region, aligning with broader efforts to enhance industry skills and career opportunities.
“A training agreement is an important way to develop the local capabilities and offer opportunities for skill enhancement and career growth for students to meet the growing need for mining professionals in the area. This initiative is a concrete example of Metso’s commitment to community development in Saudi Arabia,” said Rajneesh Mishra, Vice President, Sales and Service, Middle East area.
