Caterpillar has signed a five-year global framework agreement with Vale to support productivity, innovation, and decarbonization efforts in mining. The agreement builds on ongoing collaboration, including the development of a dual-fuel haul truck powered by diesel and ethanol, as well as testing of a battery electric haul truck and Caterpillar’s Dynamic Energy Transfer System.
The initiative reflects Caterpillar’s commitment to delivering solutions that enhance operational efficiency while supporting sustainability goals. The dual-fuel truck, designed for 240-ton capacity, will undergo initial testing at Caterpillar’s U.S. facilities before further validation at Vale’s sites. The collaboration is part of broader efforts to provide technologies that help mining customers reduce emissions without compromising performance, says the company.
“The agreement with Vale reflects our commitment to developing solutions that support our customers' operational and sustainability goals,” said Denise Johnson, group president of Caterpillar's Resource Industries segment.
