Caterpillar’s MineStar™ Command for hauling is in use at Anglo American’s Quellaveco copper mine in Moquegua, Peru. A fleet of 32 autonomous Cat® 794 mining trucks operates at the site with local support from Ferreyros. The system is reported to deliver improvements in both safety and productivity, with trucks running reliably in conditions such as dust, rain and fog.
Ferreyros, Caterpillar’s long-standing representative in Peru, provides continuous support for the fleet through maintenance, spare parts supply and component repair. Quellaveco has recorded high utilization and strong physical availability, reflecting the collaboration between Anglo American, Caterpillar and Ferreyros.
“We are very proud of Quellaveco’s success, whose autonomous operation reflects the strength and innovation of mining in Peru. We are honored to be part of this story, which continues to set new standards and demonstrates the important benefits of Caterpillar’s autonomy technology and the quality of the people behind the machines,” said Santiago Basualdo, Division Manager for Large Mining at Ferreyros.
