Caterpillar, Joule and Wheeler Agree Deal to Power Data Center Expansion

Joule Capital Partners, Caterpillar Inc., and Wheeler Machinery Co. have announced an agreement to provide prime power for Joule’s planned High Performance Compute Data Center Campus in Utah. Designed to be the largest single campus in the state, the facility is expected to deliver multiple gigawatts of capacity, incorporating a distributed generation system based on Caterpillar’s G3520K generator sets alongside combined cooling, heat, and power (CCHP) technology. The project also includes large-scale battery energy storage and backup systems supported by multiple fuel sources.

According to the companies, the integrated package will provide both electricity and waste heat capture to support advanced, high-density server cooling, while offering speed-to-power advantages due to Caterpillar’s U.S.-based manufacturing. Wheeler Machinery will partner with Caterpillar to deliver ongoing service and support, with the aim of meeting availability and uptime targets for data center tenants.
