Caterpillar Inc. has commenced celebrations for its centennial anniversary, highlighting a century of contributions to global infrastructure and industry transformation. Founded in 1925 through the merger of the Holt Manufacturing Company and C.L. Best Tractor Co., Caterpillar has grown from its first track-type tractor to a portfolio that includes autonomous equipment and advanced engines supporting construction, mining, and energy projects worldwide.
The company launched its Centennial World Tour on January 9, 2025, featuring immersive experiences at facilities across the globe. Special events were held in North Carolina, Illinois, and Texas, where the families of the founders joined employees and leaders to commemorate this milestone. Limited-edition “Centennial Grey” machines are also being made available for purchase this year to honor the occasion.
“Our success over the last 100 years is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our employees, the continued trust of our customers and the support of our dealers and business partners. I am proud to lead such a strong team, and I’m confident Caterpillar will continue to help our customers build a better, more sustainable world over the next 100 years.” said Caterpillar Chairman and CEO Jim Umpleby.
