BHP has awarded Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions a contract to supply three underground continuous mining systems for the Jansen Potash Stage 2 project in Saskatchewan, Canada. This follows a previous contract for four systems in Stage 1, with deliveries for Stage 2 expected between 2028 and 2029.
Each system includes a Sandvik MF460 borer miner and PO140 conveyor haulage, capable of producing 1,300-1,500 tons per hour. These systems aim to enhance productivity at Jansen, which is positioned to become one of the largest potash mines globally.
"We are pleased to extend our partnership with BHP and deliver additional systems for the Jansen project,” said Mats Eriksson, President of Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions.
