Sandvik and Adriatic Metals have implemented the first underground mining automation system in the Balkan region, deploying AutoMine® Multi-Lite at the Vareš silver project in Bosnia. The two-phase system includes two operator stations and three Sandvik loaders—Toro® LH517i and Toro® LH514—operating across two production levels to support continuous production.
AutoMine® Multi-Lite allows operators to remotely control multiple automated machines within designated production areas. Sandvik states that the system’s flexibility enables the integration of multiple production areas and operator stations into a single framework, increasing productivity, safety, and cost efficiency. The technology is designed to minimize downtime while ensuring consistent performance.
“The support we received from Sandvik throughout this project has been outstanding. We are thrilled to be the first in the Balkan region to implement the AutoMine® Multi-Lite system. Its precision and consistency not only enhance our productivity but also significantly reduce the risk of personal injury and equipment damage. This technology is a game-changer for our operations.” said Bryce Arnold, Maintenance Superintendent at Adriatic Metals.
