Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions has introduced a drilling performance upgrade package for the Sandvik DD210 narrow vein underground drill rig. The updated version features the THC561 control system, designed to improve drilling efficiency when paired with the RDX5 rock drill. Sandvik says that this combination delivers a 15% increase in penetration rate over the previous model while also extending component life by reducing wear on rock tools.
The upgraded Sandvik DD210 includes a redesigned carrier, which enhances durability while maintaining the rig’s compact size for use in confined tunnels. Serviceability and maintenance have been improved with ground-level access, and additional safety options such as Access Protector and a Stage V engine are available. An optional Narrow Vein package allows for a wider range of applications, including face drilling, cross-cutting, bolting, and long-hole drilling.
