Sandvik Mining has been awarded a contract by JCHX Mining Management Co., Ltd. to supply 32 units of underground equipment for operations at MMG’s Khoemacau Copper Mine in Botswana. The order includes 12 Toro® TH663i haul trucks, 10 Toro® LH621i loaders, eight Sandvik DD422i development drills, one Sandvik DL432i longhole drill, and a Sandvik Rhino 100 raise borer. The fleet will also be supported by Remote Monitoring Service, designed to provide operational data to enhance performance and reliability. Deliveries are scheduled to run from the third quarter of 2025 through mid-2026.
Khoemacau, located in the Kalahari Copper Belt, is undergoing significant expansion under MMG, which acquired the operation in 2024. Annual production of around 60,000 tonnes of copper is expected to rise through near-term mine development and the construction of a new processing plant that could more than double total output in the longer term.
“We are proud to partner with JCHX in delivering safe and productive operations at Khoemacau Copper Mine. Our advanced underground technologies and digital solutions will help enable efficiency and performance as the site ramps up production in the coming years,” said Mats Eriksson, President of Sandvik Mining.
