Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions has announced they now provide electric versions of their entire range of next-generation intelligent rotary blasthole drills. The company says this expansion supports the mining industry’s shift toward more sustainable operations. The newly introduced iE-series includes the Sandvik DR410iE, DR411iE, DR412iE, DR413iE, and DR416iE, covering hole diameters from 152 to 406 millimeters.
The iE-series drill rigs are built on the same modular platform as their diesel-powered counterparts but incorporate electric power systems designed for demanding mining conditions. Features include a soft starter to minimize impact on the mine’s power grid, multi-voltage and multi-frequency electric motors for flexibility, and optional cable reels to facilitate connection to mine substations. Sandvik also offers a field conversion option, allowing customers to upgrade diesel-powered units to fully electric configurations.
"Sandvik iE-series drill rigs use the same modular platform as our diesel-powered rotary rigs but with the added environmental benefits of electrification. We now also offer customers the ability to convert a diesel-powered unit to a fully electrified version in the field. These innovative drills deliver superior performance, reliability and sustainability in the most demanding mining conditions." said Nellaiappan Subbiah, Product Manager, Rotary Drills at Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions.
