ArcelorMittal Mining Canada has selected Sandvik Mining to supply four DR412i rotary blasthole drills for its Mont-Wright mining complex in Québec. Two drills have already been delivered, with the remaining units expected by the end of Q3 2025. Sandvik will also provide commissioning services and onsite training, supporting ArcelorMittal’s plans to modernize its fleet and improve operational performance.
The DR412i is equipped with Sandvik’s Intelligent Control System Architecture (SICA) and designed to support both rotary and down-the-hole drilling. It is intended to boost productivity and reduce environmental impact through features such as centralized servicing, real-time diagnostics, and automated safety functions. The investment forms part of ArcelorMittal’s broader strategy to enhance equipment capability and extend operational life at one of its key iron ore sites.
“We are thrilled to partner with ArcelorMittal in integrating our intelligent rotary blasthole drills into their operations. Sandvik DR412i embodies the innovation and dependability needed to meet the demands of modern mining. Its features not only enhance productivity but also contribute to creating safer and more sustainable mining environments, aligning with the values of both Sandvik and ArcelorMittal.” said Kevin McEachern, Business Line Manager for Surface Drilling at Sandvik Mining.
