Sandvik Mining has launched the AutoMine® Surface Drilling Training Simulator, developed to provide a realistic and cost-effective training environment for operators of its i-series surface drill rigs. The system is designed to support the move from classroom instruction to hands-on application, helping to build operator competence in managing automated drilling processes.
The simulator enables practice in areas such as path planning, autonomous production cycle management and monitoring, with features including authentic rig controls and portable design for deployment across global operations. By shifting much of the training into a virtual environment, it also allows mining companies to reduce fuel use, limit wear on equipment and cut emissions while maintaining consistent standards across multiple sites.
“The AutoMine® Surface Drilling Training Simulator bridges the gap from classroom learning to operational readiness by giving operators an immersive, hands-on environment to practice, make mistakes and refine their skills before working in a live mine,” said Anu Pyysalo, Head of Learning Solutions Automation at Sandvik Mining.
