Zimplats, the largest platinum group metals producer in Zimbabwe, has placed an order with Sandvik for 28 pieces of underground mining equipment at its Ngezi operations. The fleet includes loaders, development jumbos, bolters and trucks, with deliveries scheduled from the third quarter of 2025 to the second quarter of 2026. The agreement also includes parts and service kits to support long-term performance.
The Ngezi underground mines, located on the Zimbabwean Great Dyke, are a key focus in Zimplats’ transition from open-pit to underground mining. The new Sandvik machines are designed to enhance operational efficiency and safety, while supporting the company’s sustainability and expansion goals. Additional information on the equipment specifications and delivery timetable is available on Zimplats’ website.
“We are proud to partner with Zimplats on this significant investment in the Ngezi underground operations. This order reflects our strong commitment to providing reliable, fit-for-purpose equipment and services that help our customers achieve their productivity, safety and sustainability targets.” said Mats Eriksson, President of Sandvik Mining.
