Epiroc has announced the full availability of its Common Automation Panel (CAP) for RCS-based surface drill rigs, including Pit Viper and SmartROC DTH MKII. The panel allows operators to control mixed fleets from a single station, supporting more efficient, cost-effective, and safer remote operations. Designed to enhance interoperability, CAP provides a standardized platform for managing automated drilling systems.
The system features a 12-inch touchscreen and configurable joystick setup, enabling seamless transitions between machine types. By simplifying training and reducing variability, CAP aims to improve operator efficiency while lowering costs associated with maintenance and spare parts. The technology also supports greater situational awareness, integrating more drills into a single control room to optimize fleet performance.
“CAP exemplifies our vision of an interoperable control room, allowing Pit Viper and SmartROC drills to be controlled by a single platform. Our customers need solutions that grow with them and adapt to their needs—CAP delivers by seamlessly connecting larger, mixed fleets with ease.” said Christopher Blignaut, Automation Manager at Epiroc Surface division.
